Singapore

Where To Stay Where To Eat Where To Drink What To Do Where To Shop

With its scrumptious cuisine, multicultural influences and cutting-edge infrastructure, Singapore is one of the region’s shining stars – and worth far more than a quick stopover.

Beyond its polished skyline, the city unfolds through its distinct neighbourhoods – from the heritage shophouses of Chinatown and Kampong Glam to the colourful streets of Little India. Its food culture remains a defining draw, where humble hawker fare sits comfortably alongside world-class restaurants.

Add to that lush urban greenery, striking architecture and a forward-thinking spirit, and Singapore reveals itself as a destination that rewards curiosity at every turn.

City at a glance: Covering approximately 744.3 sq km, Singapore packs remarkable diversity into a compact footprint, from futuristic architecture and heritage neighbourhoods to hawker centres, rainforest reserves and waterfront gardens.

Getting around: Singapore's extensive MRT, bus and public transport network makes it easy to explore without a car. Contactless Visa, Mastercard and mobile wallets can be used directly on public transport, while ride-hailing services such as Grab, Gojek and TADA are widely available.

From the airport: Singapore Changi Airport is just 20-30 minutes from the city centre by direct MRT or taxi, with frequent train services throughout the day.

Day trips: Thanks to Singapore's compact size, most major attractions can be reached within an hour. Nearby islands such as Pulau Ubin and St. John's Island also make rewarding half-day excursions.

Language: Singapore has four official languages – English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. English is the primary language used in business, transport and everyday communication.

Weather: Expect warm, humid weather year-round, with temperatures typically ranging between 25-32°C. Brief tropical showers are common, so carrying a small umbrella is recommended.

Shopping hours: Most shopping malls and major attractions are open daily, including Sundays and public holidays. Typical retail hours are 10am-10pm.

Tipping: Tipping is generally not expected. Most restaurants and hotels add a 10% service charge, while the prevailing 9% GST may also apply to your bill.

Stay connected: Free Wi-Fi is available at many shopping malls, attractions, cafés and public spaces, while tourist SIM cards and eSIMs are readily available at the airport and convenience stores.
