Singapore Airlines cabin crew member Junko Suzuki on one of her most meaningful passenger interactions and teaching her colleagues about Japanese culture
For Singapore Airlines cabin crew member Junko Suzuki, one of the most important aspects of her job is creating memorable moments for passengers.
For instance, a standout experience for Junko was celebrating a 92-year-old passenger’s birthday aboard a flight. “I will never forget her big smile. All the crew were touched and it was a beautiful moment,” Junko says.
When she’s on the ground, Junko – who hails from Japan and is Singapore Airlines’ first Japanese Inflight Manager – conducts lessons for cabin crew trainees to prepare them to fly the Japanese routes of Singapore Airlines. She teaches them basic Japanese phrases and cultural etiquette. “When I see [the trainees] applying the techniques I’ve taught them, I really feel a huge sense of accomplishment,” she says.
Despite her hectic work schedule, Junko manages to make regular trips home to Tokyo to visit her family.
She also works hard on acquiring new skills. “I took up an international Japanese sake sommelier course, and am excited to share what I learnt,” Junko says.
For Junko, impacting trainees’ and passengers’ lives makes her job immensely fulfilling, with new opportunities awaiting her on every flight with Singapore Airlines.
