Be whisked away from Dubai's skyscrapers and into the desert to enjoy an authentic Arabian meal or party like a rock star

Dining among the dunes is a must in Dubai and there are several different ways to do this, depending on your budget and preferences of course.

Experience Emirati cuisine in an unforgettable setting by taking part in the Al Marmoom Bedouin Experience dinner with Platinum Heritage. The tour begins with a pick up from Dubai hotels and involves a camel caravan to a Bedouin village. Here, you learn about their customs and everyday lives and enjoy cooking demonstrations.

In the majlis – traditional seating, decorated with carpets, cushions and often low seats – Emirati hosts share stories over a typical Bedouin dinner. Think tanoor lamb (oven-cooked lamb with rice and ghee); thareed (chicken and vegetable stew); lahm hashi (camel meat with truffles); and crispy luqaimat, deep-fried flour dumplings drizzled with date syrup and topped with sesame seeds, served on mats of dried palm leaf. Cultural performances and an astronomy session follow over cups of gahwa (Arabic coffee) and spicy cinnamon-infused chai.

Those keen to stay the night can check out Arabian Adventures, a tour group offering a selection of desert campsite visits. An assortment of meat is served alongside freshly prepared hummus and kibbeh, all enjoyed while the sun sets and alongside a roaring campfire.

For a completely different approach, famed party brand Candypants has launched a Desert Brunch. It takes place at Al Sahra Desert Resort on Fridays and includes a five-star international buffet, including wine, beer and spirits.

Please check the establishments’ respective websites for opening hours as well as booking and seating requirements before visiting, and remember to adhere to safe-distancing measures while out and about.
