For the urban sophisticate: Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo

In a sprawling metropolis like Tokyo, a well-connected address means spending less time getting around and more time enjoying the city’s many attractions. Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo occupies a prime location in the prestigious Marunouchi-Otemachi district, surrounded by designer boutiques, acclaimed restaurants and cultural landmarks.

With direct access to Otemachi Station via Exit C6a, guests have five subway lines at their disposal, making it easy to navigate the capital. Tokyo Station is also approximately 10 minutes away on foot, opening up possibilities for day trips to other Japanese cities.

There’s much more to Marunouchi than its prestigious business address. The tree-lined Marunouchi Naka-dori Avenue is home to designer boutiques, restaurants and cafés, while the nearby Imperial Palace gardens offer a scenic setting for a morning walk or run. Art enthusiasts can admire the outdoor sculptures along the Marunouchi Street Gallery, while Ginza and Nihonbashi, both easily accessible by subway or taxi, offer luxury department stores, specialist boutiques and excellent dining.

Tokyo Station also has an extensive network of underground shopping and dining areas, including its popular collection of ramen restaurants.

Occupying the upper floors of an integrated development, the 130-unit property offers a welcome sense of calm amid the city’s busy streets. Its interiors embrace a modern Japanese aesthetic, with natural woods, soft colours and clean lines creating an elegant, understated atmosphere.

In the lobby, a striking 240cm-wide sculpture by South Korean artist Bahk Seon Ghi brings an artistic dimension to the space. Composed of intricate charcoal pieces, the monochromatic installation explores the relationship between humanity and nature, with individual elements coming together to form a unified work.

Accommodation ranges from 38 square metr studios to the expansive 163 square metre Marunouchi Suite, which accommodates up to six guests and features impressive city views, a spacious living and dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen.

Many apartments also come with modern kitchens, washer-dryers and bathtubs, offering the comforts of home for extended stays. Selected two-bedroom apartments feature traditional Japanese tatami rooms with futon bedding, bringing an element of local culture into the contemporary living spaces.

Guests can maintain their fitness routine at the gymnasium or enjoy a swim in the indoor pool. Breakfast is served at TRIPLE ONE, the property’s restaurant, while a rooftop terrace and residents’ lounge provide additional spaces to relax or catch up with friends.

Combining excellent transport connections, artistic interiors and the comforts of residential living, Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo offers a convenient and comfortable base for experiencing the many sides of Japan’s capital.

For the aesthete: Ascott Dadonghai Bay Sanya

Framed by lush mountains and the turquoise waters of the South China Sea, Ascott Dadonghai Bay Sanya offers beautiful scenery before guests even step inside. Located in Hainan Island’s popular Dadonghai Scenic Area, the serviced residence was Ascott’s first property in a resort destination.

With Luhuitou Mountain as its backdrop and the crescent-shaped Dadonghai coastline nearby, the setting is a natural draw for travellers who appreciate beautiful surroundings. Dadonghai Beach, known for its 2.9km stretch of white sand and warm waters, is also within easy reach.

The property’s interiors take inspiration from its tropical setting, with soft hues, warm woods, natural stone and woven textures throughout its 186 apartments and suites. Artwork depicting ocean waters, corals and seashells adds character to the living spaces, while selected residences feature pieces inspired by the traditional textile craftsmanship of Hainan’s indigenous Li people.

This UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage is also celebrated in the lobby, where a colourful 2.6-metre tapestry offers a contemporary interpretation of Li brocade. Nearby, a striking crystal light installation spirals towards a sculptural brass reception counter, inspired by Sanya’s mountainous landscape and the local legend of a deer fairy.

Music lovers will appreciate the Maestro Suite, where classical music influences the interiors and furnishings. Decorated in earthy browns, blues and golds, the suite features a cello, vintage-style vinyl record player and Marshall speaker, alongside fresh floral arrangements, silk robes and a curated collection of art books.

Guests interested in local craftsmanship can also participate in Ascott Soirée experiences, including pearl jewellery-making workshops that celebrate Sanya’s renowned pearls. Adding another cultural detail, the property’s senior Ascott Artisan wears Li-inspired couture from designer Chen Mengli’s runway collection.

The accommodation itself ranges from 48 square metre studios to an expansive 328 square metre Three-Bedroom Penthouse, with fully equipped kitchens and spacious living areas suited to extended holidays and family stays. Selected residences also feature private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea, mountains and tropical surroundings. The property’s glass-walled infinity swimming pool is another highlight, alongside a gymnasium and children’s playroom.

It’s worth setting aside some time to see more of Sanya, too. The nearby Luhuitou Scenic Area is associated with a romantic legend of a hunter and a deer, while its elevated viewpoints offer panoramic views of the coastline and city. Guests can also visit Phoenix Hill Park for mountain scenery, explore the shops along Jiefang Road Pedestrian Street or catch a cultural performance at Sanya Romance Park.

With art, music and local heritage woven into the experience, Ascott Dadonghai Bay Sanya makes a fitting choice for travellers who appreciate the finer details of a destination.

Ascott Dadonghai Bay Sanya is located at No. 66 Haiyun Road, Dadonghai Bay, Jiyang District, Sanya, Hainan, China. For more information, visit Ascott Dadonghai Bay Sanya.

For the gourmand: Ascott Tay Ho Hanoi

Hanoi has long been a favourite among food lovers, celebrated for its fragrant bowls of  pho, lively street-food stalls and increasingly sophisticated dining scene.

Set along the shores of West Lake, Ascott Tay Ho Hanoi is preparing to introduce another reason to visit the Vietnamese capital. The ambitious development will bring together luxury accommodation, dining and entertainment, with 10 food and beverage concepts planned as part of its full opening in 2027.

Among the anticipated openings is Maison Kayser, the French artisan bakery making its Hanoi debut. Known for its traditional bread-making techniques, freshly baked pastries and French café culture, the bakery will offer a taste of Paris in the Vietnamese capital. Japanese dining will also feature prominently, with concepts from Tokyo-based Ukai, a hospitality group whose restaurants span Michelin-starred teppanyaki experiences and traditional tofu-based kaiseki cuisine.

Together, these additions promise an exciting range of dining experiences for guests who enjoy seeking out exceptional food while travelling.

The surrounding Tay Ho district is also worth exploring for its culinary offerings. The West Lake neighbourhood is known for its international restaurants, independent cafés and lakeside dining spots, making it an excellent base for experiencing Hanoi’s evolving food scene.

Visitors can also venture into the Old Quarter for local favourites such as bún chả (grilled pork served with rice noodles and dipping sauce), bánh cuốn (steamed rice rolls filled with minced pork and mushrooms) and cà phê trứng (Vietnamese egg coffee made with whipped egg yolk and condensed milk). The city’s neighbourhood eateries offer even more opportunities to sample traditional Vietnamese cooking.

The development’s International Convention Centre, which opened in 2025, is already welcoming conferences, weddings and large-scale celebrations. It features two grand ballrooms with a combined capacity of up to 2,000 guests, alongside 13 versatile meeting rooms.

When the hotel and serviced residence complex opens in 2027, it will introduce 1,165 accommodation units and an extensive collection of amenities, completing a destination where guests can stay, dine and celebrate in one address.

For travellers who plan their holidays around memorable meals, Ascott Tay Ho Hanoi is certainly one to keep on the radar.

Ascott Tay Ho Hanoi is located at No. 58 Tay Ho Street, Tay Ho Ward, Hanoi, Vietnam. For more information, visit Ascott Tay Ho Hanoi.
