Just in time for your government-subsidised end-of-year staycation

While you may not be able to jet out of Singapore this holiday season, the government has made staying home a little sweeter by gifting S$100 worth of tourism vouchers each to all Singaporeans adults (aged 18 and above). This initiative is part of the wide-reaching SingapoRediscovers campaign to boost local tourism spending given the massive slump in international visitor numbers this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Yesterday (17 November), the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) finally announced the date that these vouchers will become available: 1 December 2020.

Eligible Singaporeans simply need to set up or access their SingPass account to retrieve to their allocated vouchers (which come in denominations of S$10). These can then be redeemed for staycations, tour packages and admission tickets via five platforms: Changi Recommends, Trip.com, Klook, GlobalTix and Traveloka.

Do note that vouchers can only be redeemed via these portals, and not with the merchants directly. What this means is you first select the experience you want from any of these portals, add to cart, and click on ‘Use SingapoRediscovers Vouchers’ at checkout. Log in using your SingPass, generate a promo code, paste that in the checkout page then complete the booking.

Redemption will be ongoing from the date the vouchers are available until 30 June 2021, and there is no limit on the number of vouchers that can be used in a single transaction. However, you cannot combine different people’s vouchers on a single transaction.

Adult Singaporeans will also be able to purchase up to six subsidised tickets for attractions and tours – each at S$10 off – for those under 18 years of age.

Over 200 merchants are participating in the initiative, so you have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to planning your splurge.
