KēSA House Singapore Silkwinds

These compact hotels with shared spaces and boutique rooms are changing the way people travel and connect

1. KēSA House, Singapore

Set within a shophouse in the vibrant Chinatown district, this boutique accommodation is perfect both for quick stopovers and extended stays. Long-term guests might choose the Studio, which comes with a kitchenette and couch area. Those planning a shorter visit can opt for the Sky Room, named for its skylight that fills the room with natural light throughout the day. The co-living spaces here include a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor terrace and an indoor lounge on the second floor.

Location: In the Keong Saik Road vicinity of trendy restaurants and bars like The Old Man, Pasta Bar and The Guild.

2. Roam, Bali

This design-driven co-working and co-living space features stark white concrete juxtaposed against Bali’s lush greenery. Guests are encouraged to interact through community events such as yoga classes and career-related talks. You can also sign up for a group cooking class held in the communal kitchen. The rooftop has an open-air workspace with an adjacent café, wine bar and restaurant. Unwind in the Zen-inspired rooms, with bamboo-filled patios and polished stone bathrooms.

Location: In Ubud, Bali’s cultural heart, there’s no dearth of art galleries, yoga studios and hipster cafés.

3. The Green Penthouse, Phnom Penh

With verdant creeper plants across its exterior, this “vertical forest” offers seven rooms outfitted with plush eclectic furniture and floor-to-ceiling windows. The open-concept communal kitchens offer guests the chance to cook and dine together. If you need to get some work done, the hotel also offers cosy office spaces that feature hammocks, pool tables and couches.

Location: Conveniently located a 10-minute drive from Wat Phnom and other tourist attractions.
