The hallowed halls of the Old War Office, once a meeting place for spies and politicians, have been reborn as the first ever Raffles property in the UK. True to the Raffles brand, the 120 rooms and suites are as luxe as they come – especially the lavish Haldane Suite, which is decked out with antique fireplaces and glittering chandeliers. However, the hotel’s most show-stopping feature is perhaps the alabaster- and marble-clad Grand Staircase, where Winston Churchill was known to deliver his speeches.
