Even in a city packed with heavyweight museums, the Prado stands apart.
Opened in 1819, Spain’s premier art museum houses an extraordinary collection of Spanish, Italian and Flemish works, including Velázquez’s Las Meninas, Goya’s The Third of May 1808 and Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights.
The scale can be overwhelming, so it’s worth arriving with a game plan before diving into the galleries.
