Located in the city of Manila, near the shores of Manila Bay, the building that Rizal Park Hotel occupies dates back to 1911 but has only been in operation as a hotel since July 2017. Before that, it was the site of the Manila Army and Navy Club, a social club for US military personnel and civilians – and later, Filipinos – designed by the city planner and architect William Parsons. The redevelopment remained true to the building’s original architecture, making the hotel a charming throwback to the genteel days at the turn of the 20th century.
