About a 30-minute drive from KL city centre, Batu Caves is a major Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Murugan. The largest of the limestone caves rises up to 100m high. Early morning visits are the best, when you can immerse yourself in the climb up its 272 rainbow-coloured steps as its lush surroundings come alive, and be back down in time for breakfast.
