Thousand Islands

While the name might be a bit of an exaggeration (there are only 110 islands in the archipelago), Jakarta’s Thousand Islands is a great option for visitors who want to get out of the city. Pulau Tidung. Pulau Pari and Pulau Pramuka offer great spots for diving and snorkelling as well as unspoiled beaches. If you prefer to stay dry, Pulau Onrust is home to a hidden Dutch fortress that’s been converted to a museum. Ferries depart from Ancol Marina in Jakarta and trips to the islands take anywhere between 30 minutes to three hours.
