A breezy tree-lined escape from the skyscraper-clad city, the former French Concession is one of the most charming central urban areas in Asia. Stroll around and admire colonial-style buildings and consulates designated for the French from 1849 to 1943. Alternatively, do it all from a sidecar on one of Shanghai Insiders’ insightful motorbike tours.
