It’s no secret that the best coffee in the world is in Australia – and Sydney and Melbourne are home to the crème de la crème of cafés. Gumption Coffee is a new kid on the block serving coffee made from beans roasted at Marrickville’s Coffee Alchemy. The café makes up for flavour and quality what it lacks in size.
In this heritage 19th-century The Strand building, with its ornate balustrades and tiling, Gumption provides a stark contrast with its tiny, modern space characterised by long queues. Usual suspects like lattes and flat whites are joined by batch brews, cold drips and a special tonic – everything a discerning coffee lover could possibly want (need?) to get their next caffeine hit.
