Time for a “Singapoliday”: S$100 tourism vouchers to be given to all adult Singaporeans

The tourism vouchers will be accessible from December and can be redeemed at local hotels and attractions

The end-of-year December school holiday period usually sees families travelling out of Singapore in droves, heading out on vacations to destinations as close as Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok or as far-flung as Tokyo or New York.

While the Covid-19 pandemic has unfortunately thrown a wrench into the travel plans of many, the Singapore government has rolled out the next stage of its SingapoRediscovers campaign, a scheme that pumps some S$320m into tourism vouchers to encourage locals to get out and about exploring the city-state.

As announced by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on 16 September, all adult Singaporeans (aged 18 and above) will receive S$100 worth of tourism vouchers to spend at licensed local hotels, tourist attractions and tour companies that have been given the green light to resume operations.

The vouchers – which come in denominations of S$10 – will be available in a digital format via SingPass beginning in December and will be redeemable to offset ticket purchases or hotel bookings until the end of June 2021.

While Permanent Residents and those under the age of 18 are not eligible to receive tourism vouchers under this scheme, adult Singaporeans will be able to purchase up to a total of six subsidised child and youth tickets for various local attractions.

There are currently more than 200 hotels, 40 attractions and 400 tour itineraries that have been given the green light to resume operations with safe-management measures in place. These include popular wildlife attractions such as the Jurong Bird Park and the Singapore Zoo; museums including the National Gallery Singapore and the ArtScience Museum; hotels and attractions on Sentosa; tours of Pulau Ubin and many more.

STB says that specific details on how the vouchers can be redeemed will be announced in November, but there’s no limit to the number of vouchers that can be used at one time.

Most attractions and facilities require an online booking and have timed entry policies in place. Please check the establishments’ respective websites to register before visiting.
