1. A luxurious getaway
Located within the Lampi Marine National Park on the secluded island of Wa Ale, this is the first luxury accommodation to open in Myanmar’s gorgeous Mergui Archipelago. The resort is composed of 11 tented villas – constructed by local Burmese craftsmen using reclaimed wood – that overlook a pristine kilometre-long stretch of beach, as well as three treetop villas nestled amid the lush jungle foliage.

The resort features a nourishing Asian- and Mediterranean-inspired menu that changes daily. The chef harnesses ingredients from an on-site garden, as well as various local farms, and all seafood is sustainably caught from the archipelago.
3. Focus on sustainability
The resort takes conservation seriously, and does its part to preserve the Lampi Marine National Park by donating 20% of its annual profits. It’s also developed a sea turtle hatchery to protect the green and leatherback turtles that call the island home.
