This luxury Maldivian resort is perfect for your next family vacation

After temporarily closing their doors for the past few months due to Covid-19, the Maldives’ many resorts, hotels and villas have gradually been opening up to tourists again. One of these is ROBINSON Club Noonu. Founded in late 2017, the luxury resort is located on the island of Orivaru in the picturesque Noonu Atoll. The hotel is currently scheduled to reopen on 1 October, and you can be assured they have a full slate of health and safety measures designed to keep guests safe. ROBINSON Club Noonu was initially conceptualised with an eye on sustainability: to show how the right blend of architecture and technology can combat the ravaging effects of climate change, which have hit coastal countries like the Maldives extremely hard. You’ll be pleased to discover that buildings are insulated in order to keep the interiors cool in the tropical heat, thus reducing the need for air-conditioning, while a desalination system helps generate the island’s water supply, thereby cutting down on around 480,000 plastic bottles per year.

The hotel’s well-appointed rooms are furnished with a contemporary ethos, with pops of yellow and blue accenting a neutral-toned colour palette. Beds are large, plush and super comfortable, and some of the rooms come equipped with private pools and luxurious outdoor showers. Don’t have a private pool? You can take a dip in the hotel’s infinity pool, or simply do as one does in the Maldives and make a beeline for the ocean.

Worked up an appetite from an activity-packed day in the sun? Fret not, as the hotel has a host of dining options to cater to your culinary needs. The resort has two bars – the Sundowner and the Main – where you can take in the gorgeous sunset while sipping on cocktails of your choice. For something more substantial, there’s the Teppanyaki restaurant located along the jetty, which serves a mouth-watering assortment of meats, fresh seafood and vegetarian-friendly dishes. Each fortnight, the hotel also hosts a tasteJAM, with street food stands offering everything from juicy burgers to finger food.
