This luxury urban retreat fuses art into every element of your stay for a stylish slice of privacy in the heart of the city

1. Impeccable Icelandic design

Envisioned by architect and designer Gulla Jonsdottir, the hotel’s sleek yet sensual style emphasises the contemporary art and design of Los Angeles. The hotel is punctuated by lush landscaping and handcrafted lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Admire the liquid-metal reception desk at check-in, or relish your room’s oversized natural river rock showers, crisp luxury linens and neutral minimalism of calming grey tones.

2. Artists in the residence

Take in over 10 bespoke pieces of art created just for the hotel, from Christopher Wilcox’s installation of discarded love letters adorning the wall of the lounge to a graffiti collaboration by street artist Retna that sits by the poolside. Looking to take something home? This past year, Gulla opened Gulla Jonsdottir Atelier within the hotel, playing host to rotating exhibits as well as personal work and furniture, all available for sale.

La Peer Hotel Viale dei Romani review
The Viale dei Romani is a modern trattoria that boasts delectable cuisine.

3. Revolutionary Italian dining

While the hotel boasts over 745m2 of indoor and outdoor dining plus lounge spaces, the jewel in their culinary crown is Viale dei Romani. This modern trattoria by acclaimed chef Casey Lane takes inspiration from Sicily and integrates it with the culinary history of the southern European coast. The result is a rich menu that breaks the mould, drawing in throngs of Angelenos for wood-fired seafood; fresh, local sea urchin and briny mussels; and decadent pastas such as his intricate 100-layer lasagna with bolognese sauce.

Great amenities and thoughtful complimentary services await guests who stay here. Photo credit: Laure Joliet

4. It’s all in the details

Enjoy custom-blend nitro cold brew coffee on tap, Jade Yoga mats in each of the 105 rooms and suites and much more, as the hotel goes the extra mile when it comes to amenities and complimentary services – they even have the forgetful traveller covered with a sleep shirt in each room. Guests can also keep up with their wellness routines with stretch classes by celebrity trainer Marco Reed or Ceremony Meditation classes with Vanessa Prado.
