The Romanesque Grossmünster has defined Zurich’s skyline since the 12th century.
Legend has it that former emperor Charlemagne discovered the graves of the city’s patron saints Felix and Regula here and ordered a church to be built on the site. Three centuries later, it became the centre of the Swiss Reformation under priest Huldrych Zwingli.
Today, visitors can climb the 187 steps of the Karlsturm for sweeping views of the Old Town, Lake Zurich and the Alps.
