Gifted to Spain by Egypt in the 1960s, the Temple of Debod was dismantled, transported stone by stone and rebuilt in Madrid’s Parque de la Montaña near Plaza de España.
The 2nd-century-BC structure originally stood along the Nile before the construction of the Aswan Dam threatened the site.
Today, visitors come as much for the temple itself as the panoramic sunset views over Madrid’s western edges.
