A short walk from Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel transforms the traditional market hall into a showcase for Spanish food and drinks.
Inside the 1916 cast-iron structure, more than 30 stalls serve everything from Galician oysters and jamón ibérico to croquettes, tortillas, vermouth and wine by the glass.
It’s touristy but still one of the city’s easiest places to sample a wide selection of regional specialities in a single stop.
