With more than 3,000 rooms, Madrid’s Royal Palace offers a sweeping look at Spain’s royal history, from its grand staircases and frescoed halls to the Royal Armoury and richly decorated private chambers.
Although the royal family no longer lives here, the palace remains an official royal residence and one of the city’s most visited landmarks.
Guided tours cover highlights including the Royal Kitchen, armoury and ceremonial rooms, while the changing of the guard takes place outside every Wednesday and Saturday.
