From Michelin-starred Araya to the thumping Jungle Ballroom, the Mondrian has an outstanding lineup of drinking and dining options. Yet, Christina’s succeeds in carving out its own space under the quietly assured hand of Chef Federico Scordo. His menu is designed with comforting, shareable plates such as crispy fried potatoes served on housemade beetroot hummus, and pizza fritta, a deep-fried pizza traditionally from Naples that’s topped here with mortadella, pesto, stracciatella, and pistachios. Seafood dishes like the polpo materca (octopus cooked two ways) and gambas al ajillo (wood-fired king prawns) are well-executed, but the chef’s signature traditional carbonara, made with thick rigatoni, cannot be missed. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the sublime pistachio tiramisu.
