There are addresses in Shanghai that carry a certain weight – and Wukang Road, with its canopy of plane trees and weathered façades, is one of them.
Here, cult American fragrance house Le Labo has opened its first standalone street-front boutique in mainland China, sharing the space with Gathering, a local artisanal label dedicated to ceramics, calligraphy and handcrafted objects.
The boutique carries the full Le Labo collection, spanning fine fragrances, body care and home scents. Myrrhe 55, the brand’s City Exclusive fragrance for Shanghai, is also available here.
At the heart of the intimate 50-square-metre space is a blending room that offers a glimpse into the craft of perfume-making, echoing Le Labo’s original Nolita laboratory, which opened on Elizabeth Street in New York in 2006.
