These are the top cities attracting the most tourist arrivals in 2019, according to a New Oxford economics report
1. Bangkok - 24.6 million
Must-sees: The famed Grand Palace known for its beautiful architecture; Buddhist temple Wat Arun (also known as Temple of Dawn); and the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, that serves as the hub of Bangkok’s burgeoning art scene.
2. Hong Kong - 22.1 million
Must-sees: Victoria Peak, the best place to enjoy Hong Kong’s scenery; the historic site of PMQ that is now a hub for creative and design industries; and the fishing town of Tai O famous for its traditional stilt houses.
3. Macau - 19.2 million
Must-sees: Senado Square, a public plaza that is part of the Historic Centre of Macau; Hac Sa Beach, known for its fine black sand; and Taipa Island, a quaint spot for culture and heritage.
4. Dubai - 16.9 million
Must-sees: Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world; the tree-shaped Palm Jumeirah that is home to some of Dubai’s most luxurious resorts and upmarket global restaurants; and Dubai Mall, the city’s largest shopping mall.
5. London - 15 million
Must-sees: Westminster Abbey, a historic a World Heritage Site that’s the site of coronations; British Museum, with world-famous art and artefacts; and Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of the UK’s sovereigns.
