Everywhere you go in Athens, the mighty Acropolis is there with its flag flying. These are the best places to eat and drink while admiring the spectacular view
1. Tudor Hall
Sitting atop King George Hotel, Tudor Hall’s neoclassical decor complements uninterrupted rooftop views of the Acropolis. Order a dish commonly cooked in Greek homes: kritharoto (pasta stew) with shrimp.

2. Art Lounge
You can see Mount Lycabettus and the Acropolis from Art Lounge, on the roof of New Hotel, Athens’ only hotel with a favela-inspired decor. There is a 2,000-title art library on the premises.
3. Papadakis
TV chef Argiro Barbarigou runs this small whitewashed restaurant that serves fabulous seafood and double chocolate truffle cake. Sit outside on Voukouresitou Street for the best Acropolis views.

4. Chocolat Royal
This roof-garden restaurant just below the Acropolis stays open till 2.30am, so you can enjoy dramatic illuminations while snacking on goat’s cheese and salami.
5. 360 Cocktail Bar
Located on buzzy Monastiraki Square, 360 Cocktail Bar has great views of Athens’ nightlife, Hadrian’s Library and the Acropolis. Start with its signature Greek Kaimaki cocktail, concocted from mastic-seasoned liqueur, vodka and yogurt.
6. Cafe Avissinia
Besides a magnificent view of the Stoa of Attalos and the Acropolis from this rooftop terrace, you can also enjoy Cretan wine, a wide selection of mezze (small dishes) and music by an accordionist at weekends.
