Billionaire Tilman Fertitta’s vision of luxury comes to life in this 38-floor five-star hotel

1. The latest tech in luxurious city-view rooms

Set within Houston’s new four-hectare mixed-used Uptown Park development, The Post Oak Hotel‘s 250 rooms boast magnificent vistas and amenities like an in-room Technogym weight set, push-button drapes, temperature and light controls (with “Romance” and “Relaxing” settings) and Bluetooth-enabled in-ceiling speakers to set the mood. The design features dark woods and grey tones with shimmering crystal chandeliers; it’s discreetly lavish in a Texas-meets-Vegas kind of way. Meanwhile, the opulent, 465m² Presidential Suite has its own private elevator and helipad access.

2. It’s fit for foodies

From mini lobster rolls at the Rat Pack-esque H Bar; to Gulf Coast bouillabaisse at the utterly charming, pink-hued Bloom & Bee; and sumptuous pastries and handmade chocolates at Bouchée Patisserie, the Post Oak is a bona fide foodie destination. You’ll also find gourmet burgers at Craft F&B and a 20,000-bottle, $3 million wine cellar overseen by master sommelier Keith Goldston. Guests can also order from the menus at Mastro’s Steakhouse and Willie G’s Seafood (located adjacent to the hotel) from anywhere on the property.

3. Because jewellery stores are so yesterday

Slide into a convertible at the two-floor Rolls-Royce showroom located right in the hotel lobby. Then, test drive a Bentley or admire the $2 million dream machine otherwise known as a Bugatti; both are on display at the on-property car dealership, Post Oak Motor Cars. For a chauffeured experience, the hotel offers a complimentary Bentley or Rolls-Royce car service within a three-mile radius of the establishment. Exclusive-label designer fashions are also available at the hotel’s posh, ready-to-wear boutique, 29⁰ North.

4. A museum within a hotel

Stunning works of art from owner Tilman Fertitta’s private art collection – from artists such as Alex Katz, Joseph Glasco and Robert Motherwell – can be found throughout the public areas.

5. A European, resort-style pool

Surrounded by black and white umbrellas, cabanas and plush daybeds channelling a distinct Cannes vibe, the Post Oak’s buzzy pool area – with its jacuzzi waterfall and cabana boys serving frozen margaritas – offers a sybaritic escape from Houston’s scorching summer weather.
