Singaporeans are truly spoilt for choice when it comes to staycations. The city is chock-a-block with hotels, from lavish five-star properties to intimate boutique boltholes. Plus, there’s been a slew of exciting new openings over the past year, to the delight of savvy locals and discerning travellers alike. We’ve picked out the best for you.

1. For couples: The Warehouse Hotel

Set in a former warehouse on the banks of the Singapore River, the 27-room boutique hotel boasts an industrial-chic interior, with exposed brick walls and quirky ceiling fixtures shaped like gears. Every room here is designed differently (we’re partial to the River View Mezzanine, a split-level suite that features a reading nook and a peaked ceiling), and the rooftop infinity pool is the very definition of an urban oasis.

2. For nature lovers: Villa Samadhi

Once a colonial garrison in the 1920s, this atmospheric building has since been converted into a 20-room boutique establishment. It’s situated within the verdant environs of the Labrador Nature Reserve, offering some much-needed respite from the hectic city. Room types range from “cribs” with access to a terraced walkway, to “sarangs” (Malay for “nest”) that come with private outdoor or indoor plunge pools.

3. For families: W Singapore

Perched at the eastern end of Sentosa Island, W Singapore’s fun, youthful vibe and unbeatable location – close to beaches, restaurants and attractions like Universal Studios Singapore – are some of its biggest draws. Rooms are brightened up with psychedelic lighting, while suites feature balconies with plunge pools.

The hotel is currently offering a Stay For Fun package (from S$430++ per night), which includes tickets to one attraction and daily breakfasts for two adults and one child.

4. For culture vultures: Marina Bay Sands

The five-star hotel in the heart of Singapore is close to shops and celebrity chef restaurants; it’s also within walking distance of the ArtScience Museum and Gardens by the Bay. There are various accommodation types to choose from, such as the Family Room (which features a large balcony for alfresco dining) and the Sands Suite (which comes with 24/7 butler service). Plus, you’ll get to soak up bird’s-eye views of the glittering skyline from the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool – what can top that, really?

Check out the hotel’s offers and promotions page to score deals like S$40 off the Best Available Rate, free entry to the SkyPark Observation Deck or free buffet breakfasts.

5. For design lovers: Lloyd’s Inn

Lovers of minimalist design will be in for a treat at Lloyd’s Inn, thanks to its liberal use of raw concrete and muted colour palette of blacks, whites and greys. While the space provides a respite from the city, it also serves as the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the popular shopping belt of Orchard Road. Rooms range from standard to premium, deluxe and suites, and there’s a dipping pool on-site too.

Six Senses Duxton

6. For history buffs: Six Senses Duxton

Opened in April 2018, this charming 49-room boutique hotel is a seamless blend of traditional and modern design elements. The Opium Room is modelled after the notorious opium dens that used to populate the area, while the stunning Specialty Suites each feature a different aesthetic. What’s more, its excellent location on buzzy Duxton Road means that it offers easy access to countless top-notch bars, cafés and restaurants in the Tanjong Pagar and Chinatown districts.

The hotel’s opening offer (which ends 30 September) includes 15% savings on the Best Available Rate, while early bookings will earn you other perks like breakfast and unlimited wireless internet access.
