1. Cardamom Tented Camp
This is a three-way initiative between Thai tourism brand Minor Group, Bangkok-based Yaana Ventures and Wildlife Alliance. This sustainably minded lodge on the banks of the Preak Tachan River is part of an 18,000-hectare eco-tourism concession and features nine well-appointed safari-style tents that fan out from a curvaceous wooden walkway. The chance to hike with the Wildlife Alliance team on genuine patrols is one of the big draws.
2. Chi Pat Homestays
Initiated by the Wildlife Alliance, this community-led project lets visitors experience a homestay in a village on the forest edge, with the aim of offering locals the chance to earn an alternative form of revenue as hosts and guides.
3. Four Rivers Floating Lodge
This remote eco-camp is only accessible by boat and comprises 12 tented villas that float over the waters of the Tatai River – the gateway to Southeast Asia’s largest coastal mangrove swamps. Activities include bird watching, jungle trekking or taking a refreshing dip at the picturesque Tatai Waterfall. Sustainably built, the resort also works closely with the Wildlife Alliance and the local community on education and waste management programmes.
