Fast facts about five new museum openings around the network

1. 1890s

The decade when Manhattan’s Church Missions House was built – the building was once home to the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society of the Episcopal Church. It will now be home to the Fotografiska New York photography museum, which is set to open this winter and includes its own speakeasy.

2. 22,000m2

The size of the West Bund Art Museum in Shanghai, a shimmering glass building designed by David Chipperfield Architects that’s slated to be operational by the end of the year. The museum will host an outpost of Paris’ famed Centre Pompidou, along with three main galleries.

3. 900

Number of contemporary works that will be on display in Ruby City in San Antonio, Texas, a three-hour drive from Houston. The David Adjaye-designed museum, which took 12 years to complete, opens this month and features art from the Linda Pace Foundation’s permanent collection.

4. 49,000

Number of artefacts at the month-old Bauhaus Museum Dessau in Dessau, Germany, making it the second-largest Bauhaus collection in the world. Items on display include drawings by renowned artists such as Lyonel Feininger, Gerhard Marcks and Wassily Kandinsky, as well as architectural models and vintage prints.

5. 7.5m

The height of the LED screen at K11 Musea’s outdoor amphitheatre space. The new museum-retail complex in Hong Kong’s Victoria Dockside is expected to launch this quarter and will feature a rotating international art collection.
