Blockchain could be the most disruptive technology since the Internet, and Singapore Airlines is embracing this new advancement
The Singapore Airlines Group’s KrisFlyer frequent flyer programme will launch the world’s first blockchain-based airline loyalty digital wallet, which will help unlock the value of KrisFlyer miles to enable everyday spending at retail partners. A new KrisFlyer digital wallet app utilising this blockchain technology is expected to be rolled out in about six months. This will allow KrisFlyer members to use their miles for point-of-sale transactions at participating retail merchants. KrisFlyer is currently signing up retail merchant partners in the Singapore market, for a start.
