The food huts offer regional specialities from Switzerland as well as delicacies from other countries, while the design market has a great range of gift ideas showcasing the craftsmanship of locally made products.
Don’t miss the cosy fondue chalet with a fireplace and head to the spacious terrace to enjoy the view of twinkling lights all over the holiday market. There will also be a lineup of entertaining performances for all ages.

2. Singapore: Christmas Wonderland
The warmest option on this list for sure, Christmas in Singapore is no less dazzling when celebrated at Gardens by the Bay. Admire the towering Christmas Pyramid, enjoy traditional fairground rides and carnival games and marvel at flying Santa soaring above Gardens by the Bay.
Join Father Christmas and his band of singing reindeer at their stable or simply admire the view of the Supertrees as they come alive with multi-coloured illuminations to the tunes of festive jingles.

3. Tokyo: Tokyo Christmas Market
The capital of Japan embraces the spirit of a European Yuletide with its very own German-style Christmas market, set against the city’s glittering lights and modern skyline. The 2025 edition runs in two locations: Meiji Jingu Gaien and Shiba Park.
Wander through cozy chalet-style stalls selling mulled wine, German sausages, gingerbread and handmade ornaments. The centerpiece is a towering 14m German Christmas pyramid which lights up nightly, bringing warmth to crisp winter evenings. The markets will feature European festive food and drinks like glühwein, goulash and sausages and other booths will offer artisan crafts sourced from the continent.
The Meiji Jingu Gaien market runs from 21 November to 25 December 2025 and the Shiba Park market runs from 5–25 December 2025
4. Salzburg (via Munich): St Wolfgang Advent
Few places capture Alpine Christmas magic quite like the Wolfgangsee region, which is a 30-minute drive from Salzburg, Austria. Fly into Munich, Germany and hop on a train to experience how these three neighbouring villages celebrate the festivities with their own theme: St Wolfgang has a show-stopping, 11m floating lantern on the lake and more than 70 life-sized figures scattered around the village; baroque St Gilgen glows in red candlelight decorations; and Strobl stands out as a nativity village filled with real animals.
Visitors can travel between them by ferry across the lake, surrounded by reflections of twinkling lights and mountain silhouettes. Across the three villages, expect cosy food stalls, warm drinks, handcrafted gifts and plenty of festive treats to browse as you wander from market to market.

5. Seoul: Gwanghwamun Christmas Market
Every year, Gwanghwamun Square in South Korea’s capital transforms into a winter wonderland with more than 100 vendors tucked into chalet-style stalls with cute red roofs. Inspired by Santa’s village concept, the market is anchored by a towering Christmas tree, a sparkling merry-go-round, light installations and Santa’s express train loaded with beautiful gifts – ideal for that cosy Christmas photograph.
Enjoy the performances and explore the booths to discover sweet festive desserts, handmade holiday crafts and cute stocking stuffers that will bring a little Seoul sparkle home.

6. Strasbourg (via Paris): Strasbourg Christmas Market
The city of Strasbourg in northeastern France, often crowned the “Capital of Christmas” for its 455-year-old history of holding Christmas markets, transforms once again this Yuletide season into a glittering fairy tale. It’s easily reached by high-speed train from Paris, taking almost two hours.
Across eight themed markets set around landmarks like Place Kléber, Place de la Cathédrale and Rue Gutenberg, more than 300 chalet-style stalls showcase handcrafted ornaments, regional treats and classic Alsatian gifts. There are also nightly performances, choirs and shimmering light installations, turning the entire old town into a scene straight out of a snow globe. For something fresh yet thoughtful, check out Marché OFF at Place Grimmeissen, a socially minded market dedicated to ethical crafts, vintage finds and eco-friendly gifting.

7. Barcelona: Fira de Santa Llúcia
Dating all the way back to 1786, this historic Spanish Christmas market sees hundreds of stalls selling a plethora of wares – from Christmas trees to musical instruments and jewellery.
The stalls are organised into categories: nativity scenes and figures; greenery and plants; crafts; and simbombes (a traditional musical instrument), so it’s easy to find what you want or to simply browse the selection. Performances abound as well with bands playing traditional music and dances for the winter and Christmas season.

8. Copenhagen: Tivoli Christmas Market
Every year, the iconic Tivoli Gardens in Denmark’s capital plays host to stalls selling festive trinkets and snacks, with a variety of cosy restaurants offering hearty meals in the cold.
Don’t miss the fireworks displays on 25 and 26 December, as well as Christmas performances such as The Nutcracker performed at various halls. This year’s highlight is the ballet The Snow Queen at The Tivoli Concert Hall. As the sun sets, see the Gardens transform as elaborate Christmas lights emanate an enchanting glow.

9. New York: Bank of America Winter Village
Besides shopping for items like sweaters, jewellery, decorations and local food at this American Christmas market, you can also go ice skating – for free – at Bryant Park’s 1,580m² outdoor rink. (Skates can also be rented for a fee).
Head to The Lodge to admire the graceful ice skaters while enjoying a festive cocktail and scrumptious holiday treats. There are also bumper car rides, Santa’s Corner for little ones as well as bookable igloos – with heating – that is ideal for a cosy gathering with friends and family.

10. Brussels: Brussels Winter Wonders
Belgium’s capital brings the holiday season to life with Winter Wonders, a sprawling citywide celebration centred around the magnificent Grand-Place. More than 200 wooden chalets line the streets, offering everything from Belgian chocolates and mulled wine to artisanal crafts and design-led gifts.
The UNESCO-listed square erupts in colour each evening with a sound-and-light show projected on the historic building façades, while a covered ice rink, Ferris wheel and festive parade add to the spectacle. As one of Europe’s most vibrant winter festivals, it is an immersive stop for food lovers, last-minute shoppers and anyone who enjoys their Christmas markets with a bit of theatrical flair.
