Gwangjang Market

Traditional street market in Jongno-gu

Gwangjang Market

Open since 1905, this market is as authentic as it gets. It’s famed for its hole-in-the-wall eateries selling bindae-tteok (mung bean pancakes) and makgeolli (a milky rice wine), while the aisles between shops are filled with stalls serving the holy trinity of Korean street food: tteok-bokki (rice cakes in a spicy sauce), sundae (blood sausage) and twigim (tempura).
