Koreans are justifiably proud of their local beef, Hanwoo, which can be relished at grill-it-yourself restaurants countrywide. A heavyweight in Korea’s Hanwoo scene is Ganggangsullae, which serves about 150 tonnes of meat each day at its nine locations in the Seoul area, including in traveller-friendly Hongdae. To sample various cuts, order the Hanwoo modeum jeongsik. For adventurous eating, try the Hanwoo yukhoe (raw beef). Ganggangsullae also serves pork, and corkage fees are waived.
