Conveniently located in Orchard Road’s Takashimaya Shopping Centre, the retro-styled restaurant takes inspiration from 1980s Tiong Bahru Market with smooth curves, glass blocks and avocado green tiles. It’s a nostalgic setting for what founders Anders and Max Cheong refer to as ‘old Singapore’ favourites like Hainan Curry Fish Pot and Hainanese Crispy Pork Jowl.
Of course, the headline act is its excellent Hainanese Chicken Rice, served here with your choice of classic Thai Hom Mali, basmati or Niigata Koshihikari rice. The chicken itself is succulent and flavoursome, with a bouncy, slippery skin that pairs perfectly with chilli and ginger sauce. To drink, try the Iced Coconut Latte with Matcha Cream.
