Named after the Thai word for fire, Fi Woodfire Thai is a casual, open-concept spot that’s ideal for easy get-togethers. Naturally, the Roaster charcoal oven from Greece is the flaming heart of the restaurant, which delivers flame-kissed, slow-grilled meats like the Signature ‘Moo Ping’ pork rib that’s fired over lychee wood and served with a fiery nam jim jaew (Thai dried chilli dipping sauce). The expanded menu now includes quirky additions such as the unique Watermelon with Fish Floss – a refreshing sweet-savoury appetiser that works surprisingly well – and the Son-in-Law Eggs with a strawberry tamarind glaze.
The flavourful organic GG™ French Poulet, served with a chicken liver sauce, is a crowd-pleaser, as is the Drunken Noodles, ostensibly cooked up in Thailand as a hangover cure, with seafood, chilli padi and a dose of wok’s breath. For those who choose to imbibe, give the tasty signature cocktails a go; the tequila-based Mango Caliente is tart, spicy and just the right amount of sweet.
