Set in the leafy grounds of social impact hub The Foundry, the specialty coffee brand’s first sit-down cafe is a breezy 50-seater surrounded by greenery. Bettr, Southeast Asia’s first B Corporation, trains individuals including at-risk youth, prison inmates, and individuals from marginalised backgrounds, in professional barista skills through its academy arm. The coffee they serve is responsibly-sourced from coffee farmers across Asia and Latin America, and the spent grounds are upcycled into sustainability-minded cocktails. The Bettr Old Fashioned, for instance, fat-washes whisky with brown butter that’s infused with coffee grounds to add a layer of richness and complexity.
The cocktails are complemented by minimal intervention wines from around the world, as well as bean-free ‘coffee’ like Prefer, made from upcycled bread, soy, and barley. Fresh bakes and tasty, wholesome plates like the vegetarian Garden Gnocchi, as well as grilled chicken sarnie make for a brunch-perfect afternoon.
