Opened to the public by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809, the Pinacoteca di Brera is one of Italy’s most important art museums.
Its collection spans medieval paintings, the Renaissance and later Italian art, with highlights like Raphael’s Marriage of the Virgin, Francesco Hayez’s The Kiss and Caravaggio’s Supper at Emmaus.
The gallery occupies part of the historic Palazzo Brera, a cultural complex that also houses the Braidense Library and Brera Academy.
