These Frankfurt restaurants are serving up new and interesting dishes in the city
1. Seven Swans
Situated by the Main River in Frankfurt’s narrowest building, Seven Swans has retained its Michelin star despite going full vegetarian. Spread across seven floors, the restaurant’s vibe is refined yet relaxed, while the organic produce that features on its seasonal menu comes from its own permaculture farm 30km away. Dishes such as peas with poppy seeds and verbena, along with strawberries with cream and elderflower are visually stunning, as are the night-time views of the river.
2. The Listener
This light and airy concept store just north of Frankfurt’s main shopping drag is perfect for the fashion-forward, boasting a hand-picked selection of high-quality designer clothes, shoes and accessories – with a strong emphasis on denim. You’ll find the latest in men’s and women’s apparel from international brands such as Common Projects, Comme des Garçons and Helmut Lang, as well as German labels including PB 0110 and Goetze. The Listener also stocks a collection of lifestyle products, with offerings from Aesop and Leica, and even has a bar on the first floor. Its frequent launches and events are not to be missed.

3. Badias Kitchen
Badias Kitchen can be found in the renowned Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt’s main destination for modern and contemporary art. Located in the heart of the old town, they host regular gatherings themed around ongoing exhibitions. Popular with the artsy set, the parties held here feature live music and plenty of dancing.
4. Vetro Vero
Helmed by Deborah Mognol, a German restaurateur with Venetian-Sicilian roots, this sleek and stylish restaurant brings a dose of Italian charm to Frankfurt’s fashionable Westend. It serves up modern interpretations of Italian classics – from vitello tonnato (cold, sliced veal served with tuna sauce) with pickled red onions to rack of lamb with anchovies and polenta – with excellent service to boot. The cheese menu is as carefully curated as the wine list, with the latter featuring many locally produced labels.

5. East Grape
This small but stylish wine bar in the hip Ostend district is run by banker-turned-sommelier Ralf Müller-Arnold, who has lived in the neighbourhood for two decades. On the menu are over 150 wines (around 20 of which are available by the glass), with cuvées, rare and rediscovered grape varieties, as well as vegan and organic options highlighted. A selection of sweet and savoury bites, from charcuterie and cheese to plum cake and chocolates, complement the impressive wine list.
