#Hi5SG is a ground-up initiative aimed at reviving the F&B industry, while also raising funds for those whose lives have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic
While many local restaurants have re-opened in Phase 2, there is still a long ways to go before the dining scene returns to its pre-Covid 19 state. However, a group of industry insiders – together with the Restaurant Association of Singapore and Singapore Cocktail Bar Association – have collaborated to launch a new initiative aimed at increasing footfall, while also giving back to less privileged communities.
From now till 31 January 2021, restaurants across the Lion City will be pushing out promotions under the #Hi5SG campaign. Riffing off the current five-person dining cap rule, this initiative features dining experiences themed around the number “5”, such as S$5 dishes and drinks, 55% discounts, S$55 set menus and many more. Some of the stellar restaurants participating in this initiative include the Michelin-starred Braci (S$95++ for a five-course lunch menu), Yàn (the fifth guest dines free) and BTM Mussels & Bar (a bucket of five Estrella or Hoegaarden beers for S$50++).
It’s not just hedonistic feasting, of course. #Hi5SG also aims to help communities in need, particularly those who have been hard-hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. Part of the proceeds from the dining experiences will go to DREAMS, the official beneficiary of this campaign. DREAMS is the sister organisation of South Central Community Family Service Centre, and is a residential-based educational program that mentors children from lower-income families to help steer them towards a brighter future.
#Hi5SG is the brainchild of #savefnbsg, a band of restaurant operators who came together to support each other during the pandemic. This campaign is supported by Enterprise Singapore (ESG) as part of SingapoRediscovers, a domestic recovery campaign driven by ESG and the Singapore Tourism Board.
