This month is the perfect time to visit Houston’s space-themed attractions
1. Space Center Houston
View former spacecraft in the Starship Gallery; gaze at preserved spacesuits in the Astronaut Gallery; or board a Space Shuttle replica at Independence Plaza. To finish, take the NASA Tram Tour to the Johnson Space Center.
2. George Observatory
Equipped with three large telescopes, this is the place to observe celestial objects such as the Milky Way and Saturn’s rings. It’s situated in Brazos Bend State Park, about an hour southwest of Houston by car.
3. Houston Museum of Natural Science
Get hands-on with outer space by touching the museum’s meteorites – which come from the moon, Mars and the asteroid Vesta – before stepping onto the surface of the moon via the VR experience “Destination: Moon”.
4. Mediterraneo Market & Cafe
This popular spot has been serving astronauts since 1999. Come for the stellar food (hummus, baba ghanoush, moussaka and other specialities) and stay for the history and the knowledge that an astronaut probably sat in the very same seat.
