Revel in spooky season this Halloween 2026 in Singapore
Halloween has a rather complicated past. Long before the costumes, candy and elaborate parties, its roots can be traced to Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter.
It was believed that the boundary between the living and the spirit world grew thin at this time of year, allowing supernatural beings to cross over. Bonfires, disguises and rituals were among the ways people sought protection from unwelcome visitors.
Over the centuries, these traditions became intertwined with Christian observances, including All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. The name Halloween itself comes from All Hallows’ Eve, the night before All Saints’ Day. Yet its association with ghosts, witches and the supernatural endured, eventually earning it a reputation for being dark, sinister and, in some religious circles, even satanic.
So how did something once associated with restless spirits become an occasion for dressing up, collecting sweets and partying? Much of that transformation took place in North America, where European customs evolved into community celebrations, costume parties and the trick-or-treating tradition we recognise today.
Singapore has certainly made the festivities its own, with a little help from our homegrown horror folklore. After all, who needs Dracula and Frankenstein when we’ve got the long-haired pontianak (a vengeful female spirit), the mischievous toyol (a thieving childlike spirit) and the shroud-wrapped pocong (a zombie wrapped in a burial shroud) to keep us up at night?
At Universal Studios Singapore, the iconic Halloween Horror Nights returns with sinister twists on familiar local characters, while Zouk brings forgotten childhood toys back to life for a twisted night out (Toy Story with a Chucky twist, anyone?) And that’s just a taste of what’s in store, with plenty more Halloween festivities happening across Singapore.
From spine-chilling encounters to family-friendly adventures and fabulous nights out, here’s where to get into the Halloween spirit in Singapore this year.
For horror junkies who think they've seen it all: Halloween Horror Nights 14 at Universal Studios Singapore
Think you’ve developed a high tolerance for horror? Universal Studios Singapore might just prove you wrong. Halloween Horror Nights returns for its 14th edition from 25 September to 1 November 2026, bringing a particularly sinister Singaporean twist to its haunted houses, scare zones and live entertainment. And this year, even the familiar neighbourhood karung guni (rag-and-bone collector) isn’t quite who you think he is.
There are four haunted houses to brave, starting with Singapore’s Most Haunted: On Air, where an abandoned television studio continues broadcasting horrifying reenactments of local legends.
At Karang Guni: The Cursed Collection, a seemingly ordinary second-hand collector has accumulated more than unwanted furniture and forgotten belongings. Every object carries a curse, and his cluttered shophouse is hungry for new victims.
Things get decidedly more disturbing at Made in Hell: Xinling Robotics, a futuristic Chinese facility harvesting human life force in the pursuit of artificial immortality. Then there’s Chatterbox Charlie’s Vaudeville Horrors, starring the sinister ventriloquist and his dummy Junior, who have developed a rather gruesome way of dealing with their victims.
Survived all four? Don’t celebrate just yet. The Raveyard turns a forgotten cemetery into a neon-lit party for the undead, complete with immersive photo opportunities, while Necropolis: The Serpent’s Crossroads takes you into a nightmarish realm of ancient gods, serpentine creatures and sinister bargains.
And for the first time, scares aren’t confined to designated zones. The Karung Guni and Pontianak-inspired Fatimah Rockers will be roaming the park, so you might want to think twice before letting your guard down.
And there’s more lurking beyond the haunted houses and scare zones. Expect live entertainment, selected rides operating into the night, Halloween-themed food and merchandise, and a few surprises best experienced firsthand.
For those looking to make the most of their evening, Express Passes offer a way to skip selected queues, while the RIP. Tour includes a guided VIP experience, priority access and exclusive encounters with the park’s horror performers.
When: 25 September–1 November 2026, across 18 selected nights
Admission: Separate Halloween Horror Nights admission required. Admission tickets are $68 for non-peak nights and $78 for peak nights. Check the official website for availability.

For little detectives who love a good mystery: The Mischief Within at Mandai Wildlife Reserve's Curiosity Cove
Something strange is happening at Curiosity Cove, and Ranger Buddies Al and Min need a few sharp-eyed recruits to get to the bottom of it.
From 1 October to 1 November 2026, Mandai Wildlife Reserve’s indoor playscape is getting into the Halloween spirit with The Mischief Within, a month-long celebration of games, creative activities, trick-or-treating and after-dark adventures for children aged three to 12.
Start with Boo-tiful Day, where there’s plenty to keep little hands busy. Kids can test their aim by knocking down a wall of pumpkins in three tries, or team up to blast 10 mischievous pumpkins at the carnival games. Each completed challenge earns a stamp on their Quest Card, and collecting just two stamps gets them an exclusive Halloween badge.
For something a little less competitive, there’s neon glow painting and DIY night lamps at the Crafty Cauldron ($6 per craft, or three for $15). And what would Halloween be without sweets? Pick up a candy bag ($6) and let the kids track down roving Ranger Buddies crew members for extra treats.
If your children love a good mystery, save the real adventure for after dark. On selected evenings, Sundown turns Curiosity Cove into a giant puzzle waiting to be solved. There are four challenges to complete, from guiding a hoverball towards the finish line and counting pairs of glowing eyes in a maze to piecing together a sea creature and decoding clues hidden among animal stations. Complete the trail and the young detectives will walk away with a certificate to show for their efforts.
And don’t put those Halloween costumes away just yet. The evening also brings a glowing bubble show by CJ Bubbles and a Victory Parade, where one child and one family will be crowned Best Dressed each night. There are Halloween-themed treats at Ranger Buddies Café and Owa Bistro, too.
If the kids are still buzzing with excitement, you can even turn the outing into a little family getaway with the Play & Stay package (from $229), which includes Sundown admission and an overnight tent stay at Reservoir Retreat.

For night owls with a mischievous streak: PLAY DEAD at Zouk
Your forgotten childhood toys are back, and they’ve developed a sinister streak. This Halloween, Zouk Singapore transforms childhood nostalgia into nightmare fuel with PLAY DEAD, a two-night celebration on 30 and 31 October featuring electronic dance music, twisted toys and larger-than-life installations across its newly revamped venues.
The party unfolds across four interconnected worlds, each with its own personality. At Zouk Mainroom, The Playroom features giant props and visuals across 12m-wide LED walls, making partygoers feel toy-sized. Phuture’s The Toy Box takes a more claustrophobic turn, with broken and discarded toys crowding the space around its circular dance floor.
Capital becomes The Dollhouse, where sinister details lurk behind polished interiors, while Rally Clubhouse transforms into Lost & Found, a pit stop for food, drinks and a breather before heading back into the madness.
And if you’ve been waiting all year to show off your Halloween costume, here’s your moment. Zouk’s Best Dressed competition returns with more than $10,000 in cash and prizes, including a $5,000 cash grand prize. The runner-up receives $1,500 and a two-day, one-night stay at COMO Metropolitan Singapore, while Best Dressed Couple, Best Dressed Group and Theme-Specific Best Dressed winners stand to win $800, $1,500 and $1,000 respectively.
Zouk’s team will be scouting for standout costumes across all four venues on both nights. Selected finalists will then be featured on its social media channels, where public votes will contribute to the final judging. Creativity, originality and execution all count, so this is your cue to go all out.
When: Friday and Saturday, 30–31 October 2026
