If walls could talk
The walled city of Intramuros was the seat of government during Spanish colonial times in Manila. Construction began in the late 16th century, and it became the hub for Spanish military, political and religious power in the Philippines for more than 300 years. Much of the structure was destroyed in World War II, but in the 1980s, it underwent a major restoration and is now a popular spot for walking tours and cultural events.
City of gold
Designed in the 1960s by Pablo S Antonio Sr, the striking Art Deco-style Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar mansion in Manila’s Quezon City was built for a wealthy businessman. Now restored into a restaurant and opulent tea rooms, it boasts decorative ceilings, an elegant spiral staircase, handsome tiles, courtyards and plenty of other original features.
