Here's how Singapore Airlines' commitment to sustainability has borne fruit
1. Protecting habitats
Through partnering with Harapan Rainforest Initiative, SIA has restored 6,900ha of rainforest area and protected critically endangered animals.
2. A better fleet
SIA continues to invest in new and fuel-efficient aircraft to replace the older fleet, with an increase of 25% to 30% in fuel efficiency.
3. Fuel-smart
56 million kilogrammes of fuel have been saved since the 2015/2016 financial year, thanks to tailored water uplift and optimised flight routings. SIA’s world-first green-package flights from San Francisco have also saved 320 tonnes of carbon emissions.
4. Less waste
SIA is committed to minimising single-use plastics on board. By converting to reusable cups, the airline has saved one million paper cups and plastic lids. Digital technologies such as e-flight folders have also conserved 370 trees worth of paper.
