This sanctuary was founded to rehabilitate working elephants that have suffered in the trekking and logging industries. Visitors are invited to watch and observe these majestic creatures respectfully from a distance. In other words, no riding, no hooks – just gentle giants at their leisure.
The sanctuary’s 600m-long canopy walkway offers a bird’s-eye view of the elephants milling about in the jungle below. While it’s generally a hands-off experience, some of the daily programmes do allow you to feed the elephants and watch them roam all around you.
