Drawing inspiration from the Botanic Gardens, the lavish Tea Room is awash in ivory, sky blue and blush pink, accented with champagne gold. Ensconced in the hotel lobby, it invites discerning guests to partake in the time-honoured tradition of afternoon tea, first introduced in the 19th century by Mrs Caroline Astor at The St. Regis New York.
The elegant ritual begins with a sparkling tea or Champagne, followed by three tiers of savoury canapés and sweets. The St. Regis Tea-cured salmon mosaic with cream cheese and mango pearls is a delight, as is the Jasmine Citrus with mandarin confit and light jasmine ganache. Leisurely conversation is encouraged with unlimited servings of freshly baked scones, accompanied with lashings of artisanal jams and clotted cream.
