Another iconic spot, Prinsep Ghat is often featured in movies and pictures. Famous for its Gothic and Greek inlays, it sits on the bank of the Hooghly River. Go down to the ghats (steps leading down to a river) to watch boatmen row traditional boats with the iconic Howrah bridge in the background. The river is an inextricable part of local life and the ghats are witness to much activity, both religious and otherwise. The area comes alive in the evenings with food stalls and promenaders. Have a picnic or take a boat ride to enjoy the sunset.
