Ever since she was of age, we have dressed my four-year-old daughter Naomi in her miniature kebaya (which we bought from a shop in Changi Airport) every time we travel with Singapore Airlines.
I’m a Peranakan and have explained to her the significance of our culture and heritage. We have travelled with Singapore Airlines since her first flight and she associated very well with the graciousness of the kebaya outfit and wanted to be one of the crew members.
We have always enjoyed very warm service on board and Naomi gets extra attention and care when she’s dressed like the crew. She’s always eagerly waving to any crew member she spots. The crew love to welcome her on board and make her feel extra special, and often ask to take pictures with her.
Naomi has commented that she’s very happy that the crew know her by name and that makes her feel very comfortable on board. She has requested that we travel only with Singapore Airlines as she feels at home with the crew.
